George is survived by her husband, Onel George; two daughters, Karen George-Gillies, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Stephanie George, of Brooklyn, New York; three sons, Wilbur George, of Nashville, Tennessee, Alden and George Ruan, of St. Thomas; three sisters, Emma George, Eulaine Jones and Deenece Cromartie, of St. Thomas, and brothers, relatives and friends too numerous to name. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Church of God of Prophecy, and a viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. that morning, also at the church.

Aug. 27, 2003 -- Lionel Dale George, better known as "Dale," of St. Thomas died Aug. 16 at the age of 44. Viewing and service will be Friday, Aug. 29, at Christ Church Methodist, Market Square, with viewing at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Western Cemetery No. 3, with arrangements by Davis Funeral Home.  

George was born Oct. 26, 1958, to Elsa G. Gordon and the late Wilmoth George on St. Thomas, where he grew up. He graduated in 1976 from Charlotte Amalie High School. As a child, he loved listening to music, fighting fowl and sparring (boxing) with the neighborhood children. and playing basketball. His summers and Christmases were spent in Tortola with his special aunt Chrystalia and godfather, the late Clarence Frett.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1977 and spent nine years there improving his clerical skills. He married Isa, a German lady, and they had a daughter, Anja George. In 1986 he returned to St. Thomas and resided with his mother until his death.

He is survived by his mother; his daughter; a stepson, Patrick Ungerer; sisters Alecia Illis, Sophia McDonna, Joycelyn Smith, Sandra George Faulkner, Diana George Wilkes, Ora George Williams, Gaynelle, Gretel and Harriet George; brothers Franklyn George, Alden George Jr. and Norris George; aunts Chrystalia Frett, Marigold Torres, Cynthelia Turnbull, Adeline Gibbs, Amy Gordon, Andre Gordon Mitchum, Alva Gordon and Alfreda Gordon; and uncles, Derrick Gordon, Winifred Pickering, Efel George, and Vancito George; close friend Ira Hodge, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
